Walking in Tiergarten

We meet at 10:30 at S-Bahn Bellevue for a brisk walk through Tiergarten, with a stop for refreshments afterwards. An email is sent out to all participants each Wednesday confirming that the walk will take place and noting any changes of plan for this week’s walk. We recommend that members register, via Wild Apricot or email, so that we can look for you at Bellevue and start together.

Summer Special: An Afternoon of Art, Culture & Crémant

The Haus der Künstlerinnen und Künstler (House of the Artists) is a unique late neoclassical heritage site in the heart of Berlin, serving as a vibrant hub for art and culture. It is home to the Association of Berlin Artists (VBK), featuring a spacious gallery, a printmaking workshop, an archive and an impressive art collection of around 4,000 works.

Upon our arrival, we will be welcomed with a complimentary drink to kick off the event. As part of Summer Special 2026, we are then invited to an exclusive guided tour of a current exhibition featuring works by several artists from the VBK. The gallery’s bright, open spaces provide an inspiring setting for contemporary art across all disciplines. We will gain fascinating insights into Berlin’s art scene and have the opportunity to engage directly with the artists.

Following the tour, we are warmly invited to unwind and socialise in the pleasant atmosphere of the building and courtyard garden. The bar will be opened for this occasion, offering wine, crémant, water, and coffee upon request.

Neugerriemschneider Gallery II

The Pfefferberg area in Prenzlauer Berg, once a brewery site outside Berlin, is now one of the capital’s most interesting cultural hotspots.

In House 9 we will be welcomed in the second space of the gallery Neugerriemschneider, where we will receive a guided tour of the solo exhibition by the female American artist Pae White (born 1963). On display are her unconventional works, with their rich variety of materials and colours.

Following the gallery visit, we will tour the Pfefferberg complex and discover the studios of the other notable artists there, and learn about the various cultural institutions located on site.

At the end of the tour we can enjoy coffee or drinks at a cafe in the area.

The historic decorative squares of the U4: Nollendorfplatz - Viktoria-Luise-Platz - Bayerischer Platz - Innsbrucker Platz and Stadtpark overground station

The U4 is Berlin's second shortest and arguably most unique underground line linking Nollendorfplatz with Innsbrucker Platz. It operates entirely within the Schöneberg district and spans 2.9 kilometres with just 5 stations. It was built in only two years from 1908-1910.

The architecture of the urban squares built above the U4 stations is highly celebrated. They were designed as cohesive luxury works of art by elite architects in order to attract Berlin's wealthiest citizens to the newly established living quarters. Since the highly affluent town of Schöneberg (which was an autonomous entity up to 1920) financed the line independently, the town planners completely rejected standard, utilitarian materials. Instead, they built grand, monumental plazas. Scientists like Albert Einstein, authors like Gottfried Benn and Erich Kästner, singers like Claire Waldoff, theatre directors, higher ranks within the military, and other notables were among those who moved to the area.

We will start our tour at Viktoria-Luise-Platz. Station by station, we will have a closer look at the other squares, and end at the overground Stadtpark station (today Rathaus Schöneberg), which is a highlight in itself. On our way we will have a look at original plans, photos of the sights in the early 20th century, and the damage done by World War II, modern city planning and vandalism.

We will round off our tour at Pusteblume Café.

A tour of the Albert Einstein Science Park with a visit to the Albert Einstein Tower

Our tour guide, Herr Grunwaldt, will guide us through the park and the Einstein Tower with its unusual architecture and its function, as well as the Great Refractor with a 21-metre dome and neighbouring buildings.

After the tour we can have a snack or coffee in the cafeteria on the compound.

Wine tasting at the South African embassy

No cocktails this month, but a very special place! We are very grateful for the invitation of the South African embassy to share a wonderful summer evening on their rooftop terrace. There will be 3 white and 3 red wines to taste, plus finger food. Water will be available as well.

Come and bring partners and guests, everybody is very welcome! Upon registration, please indicate the number of guests who will accompany you. The Hoffmann Collection

The Hoffmann Collection is one of Germany’s most prestigious private collections of contemporary art, encompassing 1,200 works spanning from 1910s to the present day.

Founded by the collector couple Erika and Rolf Hoffmann (the former owners of the fashion brand Van Laack), it features an innovative concept of “living with art” in the Berlin private loft, a beautifully converted former sewing machine factory located in the Sophie-Gips-Höfe in Berlin-Mitte. Every year the loft is re-arranged, and new works are brought out of storage to spark fresh visual dialogues. We will be guided through the current 29th presentation, titled “Escaping the Daze”.

Louisa May Alcott

Our subject is the American author and women’s rights activist Louisa May Alcott. In order to support her family financially, she wrote stories for magazines, including sensational romances and mystery stories, under a pseudonym. Articles under her own name include reports about her experiences as a volunteer nurse during the Civil War. Later, her Little Women series brought the long-desired financial relief for her family. Several books about Alcott and her family are available.

Our book for 14 October is The Young Woman and the Sea, by Glenn Stout.

Cook In & Dine Out is pleased to invite you once again to Café am Neuen See, one of Berlin’s most beautiful spots for enjoying the outdoors.

Cafe am Neuen See has a spacious outdoor area with many new tables and benches. We will be seated under tall old linden and oak trees and have a romantic lake view of Tiergarten Park. The cafe has self-service in the Biergarten with regional and seasonal Mediterranean and German food cooked with organic products.

DRESS CODE: Please wear white only.

Couples' Evening

A couples’ evening offers the perfect opportunity to bring our partners along and enjoy the club spirit together. It’s a chance to meet each other’s ‘better halves’, strengthen connections, and create a warm, relaxed atmosphere where everyone feels included.

The event takes place once a month, always at 8pm in a cocktail bar in Berlin Mitte. As this group is quite small, I would kindly ask members to give priority to those who have not yet taken part.
